Here I share global concerns I care about the most.
Causes I care about
Science Education & Mentorship
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela
“What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously. But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured.” – Kurt Vonnegut
“The essence of intercultural education is the acquisition of empathy—the ability to see the world as others see it, and to allow for the possibility that others may see something we have failed to see, or may see it more accurately.” – J. William Fulbright
- Global Education for All “Big Idea” - Our student team laid foundation for student engagement in promoting global education at UC Davis. I also served as a student representative on the campus-wide steering committee and the subcommittee focusing on academic curriculum during 2019-2020. We revised the Global Studies Minor, which will be effective and included in the General Catalog starting Fall 2021.
- Education as a tool for building peace - Read about the 2010 APEC Junior Conference I joined.
- Team Davis “Seeing the Ability in DisAbility” - I love running with the athletes of Team Davis! Join us.
- My friends with Autism - I contributed to a book chapter (Thai), sharing my experience learning from my classmates with autistic spectrum disorders at Kasetsart Univesity Laboratory School, Thailand.
- Housing is one of the basic needs in our life. Yet, we are far from fulfilling the needs within our local community. In 2021, our team of volunteers launched Sustainable Growth Yolo in support of the pro-housing YIMBY (Yes, in my backyard) movement.
Sustainable Food Production and Distribution
“Food security exists when all people, at all times, have physical, social and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life.” – FAO Committee on World Food Security
- My research primarily focuses on understanding how plants turn resources - air, water, nutrients in the soil, into food, and how we can sustain productivity and nutritional quality to meet the challenges of the human-driven climate change.
- As a hobby, I turn my backyard into a playground: home veggie garden - chickens - mealworms - earthworms - composting - mushroom. Sharing lessons learned soon on Paul for Thoughts!
- I was a proud member of Davis Alt. Pro - exploring alternative, sustainable sources of protein in human diets. In 2020/2021, we developed curriculum for a new course at UC Davis, focused specifically on this subject, first launched sucessfully in Fall 2021!
- Our consulting team provided recommendations on crop selection for Stichting BREM, a Dutch urban agriculture start-up that fosters social reintegration of individuals with barriers to paid jobs due to social/psychological limitations, through food production.
- I helped Green Office Wageningen turn ideas into visual materials, as a graphic designer from 2014-2015.
- I have been a regular volunteer at Yolo Food bank, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- My friends and I made a news documentary on “Composting with Earthworms”. We won the best editing award from Panasonic KWN Thailand 2008!
